FAQs

What is BuyerWall™?

BuyerWall™ is the first and only cardholder data protection system that allows merchants to eliminate data breach liability yet still control the customer experience.

Who is behind BuyerWall™?

BuyerWall™ was developed by Electronic Payment Exchange (EPX), 30-year veteran in the payments industry, which provides a secure, reliable and easily customized processing platform.

What makes EPX able to offer BuyerWall™?

EPX’s unique ability to offer both front and back end processing allows the company to offer the BuyerWall™ solution exclusively.

What does BuyerWall™ mean for Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) compliance?

In relation to PCI DSS, BuyerWall™ achieves and goes beyond basic compliance, providing the merchant with both long and short term costs savings. It is based on the principal that that if a merchant never has cardholder data, it cannot be exposed if it is breached.

Does BuyerWall™ work for all cards?

Yes, BuyerWall™ works for all cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and JCB. Additionally, BuyerWall™ works for PINless Debit and ACH transactions.

How does BuyerWall™ impact the customer experience?

It doesn’t. BuyerWall™ allows the merchant to retain all control of the customer experience and affords them the ability to handle future transactions including chargebacks, receipt information, returns, exchanges, etc.

What is a BRIC?

A BRIC is a BuyerWall™ Recognized Identification Code that substitutes card numbers in the merchant payment system. The BRIC is unique to the BuyerWall™ solution and has no value elsewhere. It allows the merchant to retain complete control of the customer experience without having to touch the card numbers.

Is the stored cardholder data accessible for future needs (i.e., customer service)?

Yes. The securely stored cardholder data is accessed with a BRIC, allowing for future activities such as customer service functions like receipt information, returns, and exchanges as well as responding back to chargebacks.

Will I have to change parts of my payment process?

Yes, for the better. BuyerWall™ will eliminate third party vendors and allow easier, faster reporting, better security, reduced risk and an improved customer experience.

If PCI updates the DSS standards, does that affect BuyerWall™?

Because BuyerWall™ achieves and goes beyond compliance, future updates to PCI DSS will not have an impact on the functionality and security of BuyerWall™.

Does BuyerWall™ work with the online component of my business?

Yes, BuyerWall™ works with all channels of business including retail, online e-commerce, mail order and telephone order.

Does BuyerWall™ cost more than my current payment process?

No. The cost is comparable to your current payment process and the short and long term savings are substantial. Additionally, BuyerWall™ reduces the cost of achieving and maintaining PCI compliance. It also reduces costs associated with a breach.

How long does it take to set up BuyerWall™?

In some cases, BuyerWall™ can be up and running in a few hours. EPX conducts a thorough evaluation of a merchant’s current payment process and technical landscape prior to installation so that there is no interruption to the payment process.
